Volunteer Groups & Days of Service

Community Schools are a partnership among the City of Philadelphia, the School District of Philadelphia, and school communities. There are 20 Community Schools across the City, serving nearly 13,000 students. In-school Community School Coordinators organize strategic partnerships and programs to promote wellness and stability for students, families, and neighbors. By better integrating community resources, we can strengthen conditions for student learning and success.

We view young people's education and community well-being as a shared responsibility --
that's where you come in!

Days of Service

Looking to bond as a team while making a positive difference? Community Schools partners with local businesses, universities, faith communities, and local organizations to bring your team's passions and skills to students throughout the City.

Examples of recent projects include:

  • School beautification efforts, like painting walls and freshening up school gardens

  • Packing boxes for grocery or holiday giveaways

  • Organizing clothing closets, food pantries, or libraries

  • Hosting Back-to-School supply drives

  • Supporting or sponsoring special events

Organizations can also join us in making an ongoing volunteer commitment! For example - student groups, faith communities, and neighborhood associations can send a group of their members each week to support healthy food giveaways, gardening projects, or special student & family events. We also offer alternative breaks for college organizations, engaging students in a service project that connects hands-on volunteer service to the learning they do in the classroom and on campus.
