City of Philadelphia - Philly Reading Coaches

Who We Are

Philly Reading Coaches (PRC) is an afterschool early literacy program funded by the Office of Children and Families and implemented by Out-of-School time (OST) providers. This is a unique chance for volunteers to make a real impact in their community and build meaningful connections with young learners by making reading exciting and fun!

What We Do

PRC’s model combines early reading support, access to books, and civic engagement to strengthen foundational literacy skills and encourage a love of reading for our city's children.
Philly Reading Coaches pairs volunteers to read one-on-one with kindergarten-3rd grade students for 1-2 hours per week after school from October to May. Our aim is to boost reading motivation and confidence for our city's young readers.
